Q. Does the Aleis
Saleyard Electronic ID Reader read all NLIS approved
devices? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Electronic ID Reader reads all NLIS approved RFID
ear tags and rumen pellets. It reads animals
moving at considerable speed down loading
ramps and along a race. |
|
Q. Does Aleis sell
a cheaper cattle electronic ID system equal in price to other
systems on the market? |
|
A. Yes it does,
however Aleis believe the smaller antennas
are suitable for property use only unless it
is a saleyard with only very few cattle
going through. As well as this, the smaller
antenna can be easily removed, and as
already happened, they are easily stolen and
not there when they are needed on sale day. |
|
Q. There is talk
about full duplex and half duplex readers
coming soon, we don’t want to have to
change. |
|
A. The NLIS
Standard clearly states HDX technology.
Quote: Section 2. National Livestock
Identification Scheme. Permanent
Identification Device Standard (Cattle)
December 2000. Obtainable from MLA. |
|
Q. Does the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna have a null spot(s)? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna has no null spots? (A null
spot is where there is no activation and a
tag can actually get through unread). This
Aleis Saleyard Antenna design is exclusive
to Aleis and holds a worldwide patent |
|
Q. Does the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna have to be on both sides of
the race? |
|
A. No! The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna/Reader has the strength to
read the full width of a single file
race. The Aleis Saleyard Antenna/Reader
reads working tags on animals moving in
single file in either direction in the race
or loading ramp. |
|
Q. How high is the
Aleis Saleyard Antenna? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna is 1820mm (71 inches) high |
|
Q. Why is the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna so high? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna was specifically designed
to this height to cover all circumstances to
ensure if an animal jumped or mounted
another animal in the race, it would still
be read. Aleis class saleyards as large
commercial operations, and the saleyard
system was designed to read from
the smallest animal through to the largest
animal. |
|
Q. I have noticed
with other Electronic ID Saleyard Antenna/Readers the
wiring between the reader and the actual
antenna was visible. Are Aleis Saleyard
Antenna/Readers the same? |
|
A. No wiring at
all between the reader and the
actual antenna is visible or accessible. The
Aleis Saleyard Antenna/Reader incorporates
fully integrated wiring to prevent vandals
from interfering with electronics. The
Reader box itself is hard mounted on the
antenna and secured internally so it cannot
be removed. |
|
Q. How thick is the
Aleis Saleyard Antenna? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna is 45mm thick. |
|
Q. Why is the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna so thick? |
|
A. A special
requirement from saleyards was that
the system had to be vandal proof. It is
purposely built so it is not easy to remove.
The Aleis Saleyard Antenna was designed to
industrial specifications, and in conforming
to such requirements, the Aleis Saleyard
Antenna was built to withstand the
rigours of the harshest livestock
environments. This Antenna design is being
used in some of the harshest and rugged
areas in the world. |
|
Q. My saleyards
have no cover, and the Antenna/Reader will
be exposed to bright sunlight and high
temperatures all day. Will the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna/Reader cope with this? |
|
A. Yes, the
Aleis Saleyard Antenna is built with
UV Stabilized materials. We can confidently
assure you the Aleis Saleyard Antenna will
withstand the harshest of environments,
including heat & cold. |
|
Q. What other
Anti-Vandal devices have Aleis put into the
Aleis Saleyard Antenna/Reader? |
|
A. Padlocked
Nuts and bolts are implemented to prevent
removal of the Aleis Saleyard
Antenna/Reader by unauthorised persons. |
|
Q. I am a little
nervous about running 240 volts at the same
level where my operators are working, what
voltage do Aleis use at the operating area? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard Antenna/Reader is 12 volts at
the antenna location. The Aleis 240 volt
Power Box is mounted away from the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna/Reader on a high pole. |
|
Q. The electricity
supply at the saleyards can spike
occasionally, will this damage the Aleis
Saleyard Antenna/Reader? |
|
A. The Aleis
Saleyard System includes a
Transient Protection Unit which protects the
Aleis reader side from spikes, both positive
and earth power lines. |
|
Q. What housing is
the Aleis Electronic ID Reader in? |
|
A. The Aleis
Reader Box and also the Aleis Power Box are
built out of high tensile stainless steel
using IP65 Rated Boxes when mounted in the
weather. This ensures there is long lasting
quality and protection for all the
electronics and it has the ability to
withstand all types of weather conditions.
Both the boxes are key lockable to give
protection from unauthorised entry. |
|
Q. How long is the
warranty on an Aleis Saleyard System? |
|
A. Aleis
Saleyard System has 12 months warranty. |
|
Q. Can I use RF
Link in my Saleyards as I don’t want cables
connecting the Aleis Saleyard
Antenna/Reader to the computers. |
|

Wireless Link for the Reader end and the
computer end. |
